TEXAS-BORN ALIANZA ALUM SANTIAGO MUÑOZ WILL PLAY IN U-17 WORLD CUP SEMIFINALS FOR MEXICO

Former Allstate Sueño Alianza participant Santiago Muñoz will play on Thursday in the first semifinal match of the U17 FIFA World Cup with the Mexican National Team. The striker has participated in four of the five matches during the tournament thus far, scoring one goal.

Muñoz participated in the 2017 Allstate Sueño Alianza, and currently represents the LigaMX team Santos Laguna as a striker.

At Mexico’s Round of 16 match against Japan, Muñoz scored the second goal of El Tri that allowed his team to advance to the next stage. On Thursday, he’s expected to be in the starting XI in the crucial match against the Netherlands.

Over the weekend Santiago Muñoz was highlighted by FIFA.com alongside LA Galaxy’s Efrain Alvarez, as the two Mexican American players representing Mexico during the World Cup.

Santiago is the third Allstate Sueño Alianza Pro Player to play for Mexico in the FIFA World Cup. In 2013, Julio Morales played the U-20 tournament in Turkey, and in 2015 Edwin Lara competed the U-17 World Cup in Chile.

The winner of Thursday’s match will continue on to play against either Brazil or France in the Final.
